ROCKY MOUNTAIN HI!
September 10-14, 2018
Day 1: Board your plane for the flight to Denver. We enjoy a beautiful drive into the Rocky Moutains until we arrive in Vail and check into the lovely Vail Marriott Resort & Spa. We are treated to a wonderful welcome dinner. (D)
Day 2: We drive west, passing through the awesome Glenwood Canyon and Glenwood Springs as we make our way to Aspen. You will enjoy your visit to this favorite vacation site of the “Rich and Famous.” You will not only marvel at how this city evolved from a small silver mining town into today’s charming community but you’ll be amazed by the glorious mountains that surround Aspen. We return to Vail for the evening and are treated to another fine dinner. (B,D)
Day 3: In the morning we enjoy a mild, interesting nature walk through the lovely countryside with a Vail Naturalist. In the afteroon we drive to Silver Plume to take a scenic ride on the Georgetown Historic Railroad. This narrow gauge railroad was built to connect the mining towns of Silver Plume and Georgetown in the late 1800’s and was considered an engineering marvel. Great panoramic views abound as we ride across the massive Devil’s Gate High Bridge and through this gorgeous part of the Rockies. You have the opportunity to dine, on your own, in one of Vail’s many outstanding restaurants tonight. (B)
Day 4: We check out of the Vail Marriott and drive to and visit Rocky Mountain National Park. We are afforded many photo opportunities of the remarkable panoramic vistas as we make our way through the national park to Estes Park. The afternoon finds us driving to the Denver Airport, where we have accommodations tonight. A farewell dinner is prepared for us this evening. (B,D)
Day 5: We transfer to the airport for our flight home. (B)
